Six late-night hikers, who got lost on the Sunset Ridge Trail last night, were rescued this morning, according to the Pasadena Star-News.

Four men and two women called for help at 2:30 a.m., because they had gotten lost on the trail. Within two hours, firefighters and the Altadena Search and Rescue Team were able to find them and rescue them.

Everyone was just fine.

  • Some people should stay down in the cities and hike in malls where they won't get lost. Why don't people carry compasses any more? And why no GPS? It's not as if navigation devices are expensive. I carry a compass and GPS receiver always, if it's socked in fog I get out my compass. Wonder why so few people seem to even bother learning how to read one any more.

    Everything is fine....
except they're still stupid (getting lost on the trail?) and the cost of calling out firefighters and Altadena Search and Rescue.
They should have to pay for the costs of their rescue.
