Though we are not bandits, we do know that returning to the scene of a crime is usually two shoes into jail. Arlene Louise Bremner, a 43-year-old woman from Long Beach, should have consulted with us before robbing a Seal Beach surf shop on Tuesday.

Bremner allegedly stole several clothing items from Inflight Surf and Sail in the 1200 block of PCH, as witnessed by an employee at a neighboring business. The employee informed Inflight's owner, Missy Scarbrough, of the robbery after noticing Bremner "carrying clothing while making several trips to her car," reports OC Register.

Missy approached Bremner, who was seated in her car, and retrieved the stolen goods. Little did Missy know, Bremner's purse was in one of the bags.

Bremner fled the scene in her car, colliding with another vehicle during her "smooth" getaway. She returned less than 30 minutes later for her missing purse. Missy and her husband, Scott, who co-owns the shop, informed her, "You can have it back when police arrive." Bremner proceeded to attack the couple with pepper spray.

Scott fought to subdue the rampant thief.

“They were wrestling and everything was falling off the walls,” Missy said. “My husband is pretty tall, but she was picking him up and putting up a good fight. She was very small and petite but superhuman yesterday.”

Seal Beach Police arrested Bremner on suspicion of multiple felony counts of commercial burglary plus multiple counts of using a tear gas weapon while committing a crime.
