Did You Feel It? 4.3 Earthquake Rumbles Through L.A. [UPDATED]

quake-sept1-2011.jpg No, that wasn't your stomach rumbling if you forgot to eat lunch, that was indeed a magnitude 4.3 earthquake that hit the Los Angeles area at 1:47 this afternoon.

The quake was centered in the Santa Clarita area, specifically 7 km (4 miles) ESE (110 degrees) of Newhall.

So far no word on damages or injuries, if any.

Did you feel it where you are? At LAist's satellite offices, we have one felt it (North Hollywood) and two didn't feel it (West Hollywood and Venice) experiences.

UPDATE: An adjusted report shows it was a 4.2, rather than a 4.1, as we initially reported. The event has now been reviewed by a seismologist, per the USGS.

An aftershock with a (preliminary) magnitude of 2.0 was registered at 1:50, as well as one of a 2.6 (preliminary) magnitude at 1:53

-"No significant injuries reported at this time" says the LAFD at 2:08 p.m.
- "There has been no reports of damage as of yet," says the LAPD at 2:09 p.m.

2:44 p.m. The USGS has upped the magnitude of the 1:47 p.m. event to a 4.3. Also, an additional aftershock of magnitude 3.0 was registered at 2:35 p.m.

3:09 p.m. A city-wide assessment by the LAFD affirms no significant damage or injuries from today's quake.
