Bike Lanes Introduce Themselves to DTLA's 7th Street

Downtown L.A. bicyclists rejoice. You may finally enjoy the luxury necessity of bike lanes.

Painted only on 7th Street, the lanes reach "through City West and MacArthur Park to Catalina Street, where 7th is interrupted by the site of the former Ambassador Hotel," according to Blogdowntown.

Downtowners are already making use of the lanes, though several creatures of habit were spotted cruising along the sidewalks instead of the newly painted routes.

Future plans include extending bike plans through Downtown to Boyle Heights, and LADOT is currently brewing up plans for lanes on Figueroa, Flower, Spring and Main.

Happy cycling, DTLA!

Actually, the picture is of bike sharrows. Which are technically not bicycle lanes, but shared space between cars and other motorized vehicles and bicycles.  Bicycle lanes are dedicated lanes for bicycles only....that means motorized vehicles, scooters, motorcycles etc are not allowed to use the bike lanes....even though some illegally do use them.
