America's Most Wanted Canadian Arrested Near L.A. for 1999 Murder
Singh (U.S. Immigration And Customs Enforcement)
"Randhawa was on her lunch break when she was killed by a single shot to the head on Jan. 26, 1999," notes CTV. She was last seen with Singh, thought to be the teen's longtime stalker, who had picked her up outside her high school.
The manhunt for Singh endured, however when authorities believed they'd found him in San Jose, he disappeared again. Singh also altered his name and his appearance:
Police say they learned of the alias Singh was using just a few weeks ago. He was allegedly using a false social security number and working as a truck driver in Irvine, California. But his appearance had changed so much it was hard to confirm that he was the same person who has been on the lam since 1999. The once-slender Singh had ballooned to 300 lbs., grown a beard and started wearing a turban.
Singh had married in recent years, and fathered two children. His wife says she did not know Singh's real identity or that he was wanted for murder in Vancouver.
Extradition for Singh is pending, and for the duration, he is being held in Los Angeles on what is known as a "provisional arrest warrant."
