Trying to Beat the Heat: Firefighters Battle Blaze Near I-15

Small Brush Fire Breaks Out in Malibu Two fires broke out this afternoon beside the I-15 freeway, near the Cajon Pass in San Bernadino, reports NBC Los Angeles.

The fires have burned over 250 acres collectively, and destroyed one mobile home. Earlier today, the blazes closed down the interstate at the Kenwood exit, from about 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. A power line was also downed in the area. Over 400 firefighters, along with helicopters and dropping tankers are now working to put out the flames.

According to NBC, the fires are about 10 percent contained as of 4:00 p.m., and some residents in nearby Mathews Ranch and Silverwood Lake.
