Norwood Young Grows Weary of House of Davids, Decides to Move On
R&B singer Norwood Young's Hancock Park house, dubbed Youngwood Park and The House of Davids, is on the market for $2.1 million, reports LA Times. Whether or not Young resides in the house is irrelevant to us. We want to know what the new owner plans to do with the 19 Michelangelo's Davids lined up along the front lawn.
"I wouldn't give a rat's behind what they did," said Young.
Young has his reasons for the excessive display.
Of the Davids, he says, "That statue represents myself and things that I've had to defeat in my life. So it wasn't like I was just this wacky guy who wanted 20 penises on his lawn. That's not the way I roll.... Unfortunately, the neighbors and other people never took the time to wonder if there was a reason...."
Despite his lavish interior and exterior design, Young grew sick of the house due to jealousy of its popularity and celebrity status. Conversations usually revolved around his dwelling, not him or his music.
Needless to say, our Christmas plans are ruined. The propery draws crowds during the holidays with its elaborate decor, and the Davids are always stars of the display. They were clad in Santa jackets and hats in 2009 and Santa hats in 2008.
