Bryan Stow Showing 'Significant Improvement'

Dr. Geoff Manley, the chief of neurosurgery at the San Francisco General Hospital, announced that Stow is able to follow commands and to have interactions with people around him. According to the Silicon Valley Mercury News:
Stow is awake and breathing on his own but he cannot speak, said hospital spokeswoman Rachael Kagan said. Stow can move slightly on command and turn his body toward someone who is talking to him, neurosurgeon Geoff Manley said in a statement."Recovery is not a straight line, and each patient is incredibly complex," Manley said.
Stow's family has been maintaining a website to keep the public informed of his recovery, and they had this to add to the picture of a recovering Stow:
We were all pretty quiet and sad but hopeful and optimistic to see Bryan. We got there and he was pretty sleepy most of the time. [Bryan's sisters] Erin and Bonnie were saying goodbye and we were on each side of him bent down. Bonnie asked Bry to give her a kiss goodbye. He opened his eyes, turned his head puckered up and gave her a kiss. Erin then asked for a kiss. He turned his head towards her, puckered up and gave her a kiss too.
It's still unclear how much recovery Stow will be capable of, but his family hopes to eventually take him out of the hospital and place him in a rehab facility.
