Another boy has been buried alive at an OC beach, "but he's expected to be OK," according to ABC Local.

The 10-year-old boy and others had been digging at Sunset Beach on Friday when the tunnel, approximately 2 feet deep and 4 feet long, caved in, said witness.

On Wednesday, teenager Matt Mina found himself buried alive in the sand in Newport Beach when "the sand walls collapsed, trapping Mina underneath for an estimated 20-40 minutes."

Approximately 40 people assisted in Wednesday's rescue. The teenager was released from the hospital and is also expected to recover.

"20-40 minutes to get the kid out." What? Which is it? thats a huge gap for a 2 ft deep hole in the ground. I could dig that shit out 5 minutes at best. Sounds to me like "approximately 40 people" stood there and laughed at a kid who was to much of a pussy to dig him self out of a 24in deep hole. Should have just left him there and told him to figure it out because the shit life is going to throw at him is definitely a lot worse than that.

The kid's parents are Republicans and he just wanted to bury his head in the sand like the losers that are raising him.  Next time just lethim go - we don't need any more Obama-haters - let them burn, drown, suffocate, whatever it takes.

    This article doesn't make sense.

First of all, Sunset Beach is NOT Newport Beach.
Second of all it says the boy is 10 years old and at the end of
the article it says "the teenager." I don't think 10
years old is considered a teenager.

  • They are referring to another similar story. It's a poor transition.

What ever happened to building sand castles damn it? You never heard of a kid being rescued from a collapsed sand castle.

  • Is building sand tunnels common? I don't recall doing anything as darwinesque as a kid.

  • I'm with David, this didn't happen when I was a kid. Even as a relatively stoopid child, whenever I played in the sand at the beach I had enough sense of the substance's lack of structural integrity only to bury myself in it, not burrow deep below it's surface.
