Attempted Murder & Arson: Son Sets Fire To SUV With Mother Inside

Brush Fire Burning in Little Tujunga Canyon Gordon Grant, a 40-year-old Southland man, allegedly set fire to his 68-year-old mother's Ford Explorer with her locked inside of the vehicle on Sunday, as reported by CBS LA. The mother escaped the vehicle safely, and firefighters extinguished the flames. The incident transpired in Inglewood on 84th Street and 2nd Avenue.

Grant has been apprehended and is currently behind bars at the LA County Jail. He will be charged with attempted murder and arson.

Grant's neighbors informed reporters that his behavior had become increasingly violent and erratic. He set fire to a pile of trash with a blowtorch because the trash was not picked up on time and shot at a neighbor across the street on a separate occasion.

Neighbor Bobby Wells commented that the suspect's mother is a "very nice lady" and agreed that Grant "needs some help."
