Heath Ceramics Los Angeles and Skid Row Housing Trust collaborate again this year and present Home Plate, a humanitarian dinnerware trade-in. Starting today, August 1, through Wednesday, August 31, participants seeking to update or trade-in their existing dinnerware can do so at Heath Ceramics in exchange for 25% off corresponding Heath Ceramics items.
Collected dinnerware will be donated to Skid Row Housing Trust. Continuing the charitable line, donations will be gifted to one of the Housing Trust's community kitchens or to one of their newly housed individuals.
"Skid Row Housing Trust is not only working to provide permanent homes for the most vulnerable members of L.A.'s homeless population, but they're doing it in a really smart way -- with well-designed, high-quality housing and innovative social services," said Adam Silverman, Studio Director of Heath Ceramics Los Angeles.
Straight donations of household items - pots, pans, cutlery, etc. - are also welcomed.
"Last year, upwards of 4,000 pieces were donated," said Silverman. "It’s a terrific response to a worthy cause. We hope the Home Plate program this year will be equally successful, if not more."
Skid Row Housing Trust believes that "ending homelessness is a collaborative endeavor," which is precisely the mission of Home Plate.
