Won't you be my neighbor? But first, please tell me your name again.

State of American Neighbors, a recent study commissioned by State Farm Insurance, says roughly 50% of Americans know a fair amount of their neighbors by name. Older generations prove much more socially sharp. 65% of Americans aged 66 and above know a fair amount of their neighbors' names compared to 36% Americans aged 18-34. Perhaps this difference could be attributed to the social media skills (obsessions) of younger generations?

The study reported several other statistics regarding neighbor opinions and relationships in America.

*83% of Americans are willing to help a neighbor suffering financial hardship.

*44% would cook meals for neighbors.

*46% of Americans watch their neighbors’ home several times a year.

*50% of Americans say that neighbors affect their happiness by at least a fair amount.

*33% complain about out-of-control pets or kids.

Only 10% of Americans would let a neighbor live with them. This is America. We like our space.
