Helicopter Rescues 300+ Pound Man From San Gabriel River

A 46-year-old man weighing in at over 300 pounds fell or dove into the San Gabriel River in the Angeles National Forest yesterday. He was reportedly drinking alcohol with friends, according to The Daily Breeze.

His fall resulted in contact with a rock, and the man was seen lying face down in the water. Witnesses attempted to move him, but the treacherous water combined with the man's weight made their feat impossible.

U.S. Forest Service personnel and the Sheriff's Aero Bureau Air Rescue 5 helicopter arrived at the scene of the incident moments after the 911 call at 5:03pm.

Paramedics hoisted him to safe ground and performed successful resuscitation.

The man, who's name has not been released, was immediately taken to a hospital and is listed in stable condition.
