L.A.'s first-ever Navy Week launches today in conjunction with the Summer X Games at the Port of Los Angeles, as reported by CBS.

The U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln steers into Cabrillo Beach today and offers free tours throughout the week.

Also joining The U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln are the U.S.S. Princeton, the U.S.S. Chafee and the U.S.S. Champion. All four ships are open to the public this week.

Events include performances by The Leap Frogs and Navy Bands, Navy Suburban tours, ship tours plus Navy simulators.

Navy Weeks "are designed to tell the Navy’s story: what we do, why it is important and what opportunities exist in today’s Navy," according to the Navy Week website. "These events consist of community visits by admirals and sailors with namesake and hometown connections."

Navy Week in L.A. is scheduled from Monday, July 25, through Sunday, July 31.

*Ed. note: An earlier version of this story included Navy Week events that are not scheduled for Los Angeles. This version has been updated to reflect the Los Angeles Navy Week schedule.
