It's a Sausage Fest! Doggy-friendly Wirtshaus Starts Serving Up German Food & Drink This Week
Hot dog! We can thank the Germans for our favorite ballpark treat, but we can also head out to dine in several German sausage-focused establishments opening up around town. Who knew L.A. was so sausage-centric? Joining the fray of kutches, hauses, and currywursts is Wirtshaus, which will have its grand opening this Friday, July 29th.
The restaurant is owned by two actual Germans, has a German chef, and a whole lotta German eats on the menu, not to mention over 30 German and Austrian beers and wines. It's total Germania! We've been tipped off to one dessert curiosity: Wirtshaus' featured dessert is 'Spaghettieis', a German ice cream specialty that resembles a plate of spaghetti.
Bonus: Your love of hot dog's German pater familias the sausage doesn't mean you have to leave your actual dog at home. The indoo/outdoor restaurant will be doggy-friendly, and they'll even have a separate doggy menu.
Wirtshaus is open in the former Sante La Brea space, which tanked despite the intervention of chef Gordon Ramsay on his "Nightmare"-ish TV show.
