California is #1!!! In losing jobs. Our state has lost 6.7% of its jobs (= just over a million), more than any other state in the country, in the past five years, according to Los Angeles Business Journal.

California lost between June 2006 and June 2011, according to On Numbers. The Golden State had 14,068,600 jobs at the end of June 2011, down 1,009,400 jobs (6.7 percent)from June 2006, according to an On Numbers analysus of seasonally adjusted figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Take that, Texas! The Lone Star state was the big loser coming in dead last in the battle of lost jobs. In fact, they ADDED jobs. Sheesh.

I'd be curious to know what kinds of jobs were lost, and most especially how many were associated with the real estate industry. Of that million how many were realtors, mortgage brokers/loan officers, appraisers, home builders and renovators, home "staging" companies, etc.?

  • Ditto: California legislators are doing everything they can to destroy small business start ups that protect large corporations, while the large corporations bail out.

When will they wake up and cater to the needs of the people. It is often a toted fact that nearly 90% of all jobs come from our small businesses, while the large corporations are farming out our jobs overseas.

An example: choosing to tax Amazon affiliates in California (10,000+ people lost their affiliation with Amazon - less money for California's to spend in the state) so that California can collect from Amazon. Are they collecting, No!  While the large corporations like Walmart and Target now have a larger advantage over Amazon.

Seems like politicians that make the rules always favor those that fund their campaigns and not the people that they are sworn to serve.

California has consistently implemented multiple taxes and fees, oppressive regulations and other buisness UNfriendly policies. The unemployed are now paying the price for bad politics and greedy, power-hungry politicians. Nothing's free.
