SoCal Firefighters & LAFD Active-Duty Members Pedal Cross-Country, Depart From Hollywood Tomorrow

Ride for 9-11 commences tomorrow morning from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Historical Society Museum located at "Old Fire Station 27" in Hollywood. This cross-country 3308-mile bicycle ride honors and preserves the memories of those lost in the terrorist attacks, those who made the "ultimate sacrifice."

Several LAFD active-duty members and Southern California firefighters will pedal across fifteen states over the course of 47 days. Their ride across America ends in New York City at the FDNY Firefighters Memorial on September 9, just two days before the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

The ride raises money for two charities - The Leary Firefighters Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project.

A special ceremony begins at 7:30am tomorrow and includes vendors, a National Anthem performance and a fire department apparatus. Original Engine and Squad 51 from the famous show "Emergency" will lead the riders out of Hollywood.

Riders depart at 8:15am.
