Too Hot Too Handle: State Officials Investigating Heat-Related Deaths
As temperatures reach into the triple-digits, it's more and more dangerous for those laboring outdoors to do their work safely. And some, it seems, have already succumbed: the Huffington Post reports that officials are investigating six deaths that may be heat-related.
The deaths include two farmworkers, a drilling crew floorman, a police officer, a temporary laborer and a grading foreman. One of the farmworkers, a 47-year-old from Blythe, may have been operating a tractor in temperatures as high as 102 degrees.
The cases are still under investigation by the Division of Occupational Safety and Health, and the causes of death have not yet been verified.
