Waist Deep in a Storm Gutter, Man Searches for Meaning...and Keys

A piece of advice: if you drop your personal belongings down a storm gutter, do not go in after them. They are lost; bid them adieu.

Unfortunately, these words of wisdom come too late for one man, who found himself stuck between a Ceres sidewalk and street for 40 minutes this morning, according to KTLA. 21-year-old Jared Medeiros had wedged himself waist-deep into a storm drain, with his legs flailing about, in order to retrieve keys, a cell phone and cash that had fallen in. Unfortunately, the drunken young man shoved his torso too far in and couldn't get out.

After screaming for help, neighbors in the area called the police, who couldn't unwedge Medeiros (and didn't try until they had snapped a picture of him), and had to call in firefighters to finish the job.

Fortunately, Medeiros wasn't badly hurt, and perhaps most surprisingly, he wasn't even drunk enough to be arrested.

Fox 40 News has interviewed Jared Maderios first hand and his story was very different of course. He reported being jumped and his head bleeding open so he went to retrieve his phone to call for help. Hmmm...
