Medical Marijuana Infographic Shows 750k Californian Tokers

Medical marijuana, though legal in sixteen U.S. states and in Washington, D.C., classifies as a dangerous drug with no therapeutic value, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The federal government has imposed an aggressive mission to mitigate the legality of marijuana, and Los Angeles has witnessed the local effects of a crack-down on dispensaries in recent months, notably in Lake Forest, Venice Beach, West Hollywood and Glendale.
But as shown in a medical marijuana infographic, courtesy of ADrugRecall, medical marijuana has never been cited as a primary factor of death and offers many documented health benefits.
The infographic displays all states where medical marijuana is legalized, appropriately highlighted in green. California is, of course, one of them, with over 750,000 users. That's 2% of the golden state's population.
Cancer and glaucoma are two common ailments which benefit from marijuana's medicinal effects. A user survey indicates that 4.6% of users smoke to suppress nausea and/or increase appetite. A slim 1% of users seek relief from Glaucoma and other eye diseases.
The majority of users, 26.6% to be exact, are prescribed medical marijuana for mood disorders.
While the U.S. government opposes medical marijuana because of its alleged highly addictive properties, habit-forming consequences, cancer-causing capabilities and immune system debilitation, Louis Armstrong notes the more positive effects of the drug.
"It really puzzles me to see marijuana connected with narcotics, dope and all of that stuff. It is a thousand times better than whiskey. It is an assistant and a friend."
