Screengrab of footage taken during robbery
Two suspects were nearly thwarted by an attacking Chihuahua during a robbery that took place at Ace Smoke Shop in Altadena.

In the video below, two young men can be seen walking into the store on Lake Ave on July 7, around 7:30 p.m., then pointing a rifle at the person behind the counter and demanding that he hand over money and put it into a backpack. He appears to comply.

As he does so, though, his pet Chihuahua decides to fight back. Barking and snapping at the two men, the dog chases the robbers halfway out the door, with one hiding behind the other as he points his rifle at the six-pound pup. The robbers eventually go back for the backpack, grab it, and are chased out of the store with the dog running after them.

Neither man nor beast was injured, unless you count the pride of the two robbers.

Authorities are still searching for the two robbers, both described as 18 to 25 years old, between 5’06”-5’10”, and 150-180 pounds. If anyone has information about the attack, they're encouraged to call Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Detective Binder at 626-296-2114 or 626-798-1131, or leave an anonymous tip at 800-222-TIPS (8477).

Without further ado, here is the priceless footage, courtesy of the LA County Sheriff's Department:
