Party Foul in Ventura County, as Sheriff's Uproot $205M Worth of Marijuana

Ventura County Sheriff's investigators seized 68,488 marijuana plants at the largest plantation ever discovered in the area, reports KTLA.

The plants were uprooted, and were estimated to be worth about $205 million. The growing area was located in the Los Padres National Forest, just north of Ojai. No one has been arrested, however several guns and rifles were also found on the property.

The operation was discovered last month. In addition to the existing plants, areas had been cleared for growing and water was being brought in by reservoirs dug to access natural springs, adds the San Jose Mercury News.

Do they really pay LEOs to actually sit and count the number of plants in a grow bust? Just how many man hours are squandered counting 68,488 stalks? What's really befuddling is why anyone would think that a "plant" of merry wanna is a standard unit of measure.

Oh, by the way 60,000 plants makes a defendant eligible for the death penalty under Federal law. No, it's not bloody likely that they could ever carry out such a sentence because the SCOTUS just won't allow it but what stripe of ee-dee-yot would believe that growing pot should result in the death penalty, or why Congress would implement a law which is certain to be found unconstitutional?
