Gentlemen, if your wife cut off your junk, tossed it in the garbage disposal, and flipped the switch, would you be "in good spirits"? Such is the take of detectives from the Garden Grove Police Department who interviewed the as-yet-unnamed victim in the now-infamous "penis chop" case, according to the NY Daily News.

In addition to coming out of surgery and feeling okay, the 51-year-old soon-to-be-ex of Catherine Becker is listed in "good" condition at UC Irvine Medical Center. It is unclear if his penis could be attached, however, the outlook seems grim.

The motive for the case appears to be the couple's pending divorce. Authorities note that the "garbage disposal element" took the case to a whole new realm, and is what necessitated the aggravated mayhem. Because, obviously, throwing a severed penis in the garbage disposal is no regular ol' mayhem. The charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Becker is expected to be arraigned today.

  • Wow Linda. Blaming the victim? How would it sound if we found out that a man mutilated his soon to be ex wife and someone were to say "this is so extreme. I wonder what brought it on. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that she had been beating him / having sex with multiple men in their marital bed / whatever stupid and unfounded reason you want to make up." The amount of mysandry we allow in this country's public discourse without batting an eyelid is astounding to me

  • This is so extreme. I wonder what brought it on. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that he had been raping her or other serious sexual abuse.

  • Your response is "so extreme."  It's more likely that she is just a vicious person.  Maybe he cheated, maybe it was the divorce.  Nothing justifies this behavior.  It is extremely warped, and very disturbing that you immediately come to her defense after such a heinous crime.  Again, disturbing...

Considering that he's now pretty unlikely to lose half his property and then have to pay alimony on top of it, I think he's got pretty good reason to be in good spirits.

And let's hope they give it to her.
