Studio City Joins Big Leagues, Gets Movie Theater to Call Its Own
Film aficionados will soon have a new place to hang their porkpie hats with the opening of a screening theater in Studio City, reports North Hollywood-Toluca Lake Patch.
The theater will be a place for film events and series, according to Ray Franco, architect for the project, and will open at 12215 Ventura Blvd. where Aura nightclub used to be. Unlike your typical movie theater, it will serve drinks and food, and has tables and a bar:
“This is a place that could be for someone to show a series of shorts, or have a film festival," Franco said. "If you produced a movie in Europe, you could show it here and have drinks and food. The place has a liquor license.”
The new space will hold about 230 people, and could open as soon as two months from now.
