Tender Greens, an eco-conscious restaurant emphasizing the mindful connection between food and consumers, opened its sixth California location in Pasadena last Friday, July 8. While all locations offer a similar “comfortably urban” feel and nutritious, local, mostly organic fare, the Pasadena location boasts a new eco-accomplishment.
The restaurant is bottle-free. Beverages are served in glassware, and the restaurant uses 100% recyclable containers. Tender Greens has taken their sustainable philosophy to a new level and further reduced their already below-average carbon footprint.
If supporting green practices deems not reason enough to visit the Pasadena spot in the artsy Playhouse District, consider the food. Chef Daniel Schaffhauser from the Alsace region of France commands the kitchen, introducing his native culinary influences like his mother’s smoked sausages and fresh Alsatian cheeses.
“Daniel brings to Tender Greens a deep understanding of sustainable ingredients, creativity to masterfully prepare inspired dishes daily and the keen ability to forge longstanding relationships with local farmers, ranchers, and artisans,” says Erik Oberholtzer, Chef and Co-Owner of Tender Greens. “His passion for quintessential French fare will help guide the Pasadena location, and will take guests on a culinary journey right at home.”
Featuring artwork and photography by Aaron Kai and Joe Ledbetter, the restaurant welcomes diners from 11:30am-9pm Sunday through Thursday and 11:30am-10pm Friday and Saturday.
