Royal Wieners: Pink's Names Hot Dog for Duke & Duchess
A stop at Pink's hot dogs remains a must-do for many visitors to (and residents of) Los Angeles, but even though it's Hancock Park adjacent, it's not on the itinerary for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who are set to arrive in town this afternoon. That doesn't matter to Pink's; our own hot dog royalty is honoring the royal couple with a special hot dog on their menu.
The "Royal Dog" is two hot dogs in one bun topped with mustard, cheese, onions, pickle relish, two slices of bacon and a “spot” of Pink’s famous chili, says L.A. Now. (Aww, two hot dogs in one bun...how newlywed-y!)
In addition to the special hot dog, which the long-time vendor touts as "a mere trifle" at $6 (that's £3.73 for the Brits), Pink's has put up a banner that reads: “PINK’S WELCOMES WILL & KATE TO L.A.!!!”
The hot dogs will be available to the public--and the Duke and Duchess, should they opt to take a sideline from their regimented schedule this weekend--at Pink's on La Brea and at Knott's Berry Farm for this weekend only, but if the dog is a big seller, it could join the permanent menu.
