Brush Fires Swallow Acres in Malibu, Brea Today

Two brush fires in two counties keep local firefighters on their feet today, with a small blaze in Malibu, and a larger one in Brea.
The Malibu fire broke out a bit before noon, according to L.A. Now, and was handled by Los Angeles County Fire, who had the blaze out by around 1:15 p.m. with two acres consumed and no structures threatened. "Fortunately, residents of Malibu are very well educated on the threat of fires and they usually call immediately when they notice any signs of danger," noted Matt Levesque, fire inspector with the LACFD (Malibu Patch). The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
In Orange County, Brea-Fullerton Fire have been at work on a fire that broke out late this morning in the Carbon Canyon area. The fire "has reached about 100 acres, but firefighters have contained about 40 percent of the blaze," according to the Daily Bulletin.
So far, no evacuations have been ordered, however the community of Olinda Village could be in the path of the blaze, which has been moving towards the L.A. County line.
