The Flaming Lips For Breakfast
Last week, The Flaming Lips played two memorable shows at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery (a venue which is now this author's favorite in town). During the first night's performance of their 1999 album "The Soft Bulletin," frontman Wayne Coyne (LAist Interview) announced the two nights would be split with a sunrise performance featuring his friends from Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeroes. The 6 a.m. performance (in full here) included Lips' Michael Ivans dropping his bass in favor of playing the cemetery's belltower.
The Oklahoma City group also closed both with "Do You Realize?" Below can be seen their nocturnal version (one for which the late P.T. Barnum would be proud.)
