LAPD's Finest Channel Their Inner Barista For Charity
The last thing we expect when sidling up to the counter at a coffee shop in downtown's arts district is to see someone who looks like a cop serving drinks. But such a surprise awaits the caffeine-deprived customers of Urth Caffé tomorrow between noon and 7:00 p.m., when they find their dreadlocked and tattooed barista replaced by one of LA's finest as part of a fundraiser for the Special Olympics.
The Downtown News reports that the annual event, in which cops serve coffee and pastries to the masses, typically garners between $1,500 to $3,000.
