Arrest Made in Fatal Stabbing of Anaheim 12-Year-Old

An arrest was made late last night in the fatal stabbing of a 12-year-old Anaheim boy. The suspect is 18-year-old Bryan Ocampo of Anaheim, who was taken into custody at approximately 9:15 Monday night, according to the Daily Breeze. Ocampo had been considered a "person of interest" since about five hours after the child was killed in an apartment building parking lot.

Ocampo has been "booked on suspicion of homicide and held without bail." Authorities in Anaheim say the suspect "reportedly has no gang affiliation," and did not offer an explanation for motive.

The victim, identified today in the media as Juan Martinez, was not a resident of the apartment complex outside which the stabbing occurred, but did reportedly live in the area. A witness said the assailant "came out of nowhere" and stabbed the boy repeatedly. Martinez was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
