Bathroom Break: 7 Beach Restrooms Get A.M. Reprieve
Good news for beach-goers: You might not have to hold it! Yesterday, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors agreed to go back to a early morning-open schedule for seven of the 52 beach restrooms operated by the County, reports the L.A. Times.
Back in April, the County announced a slew of cost-cutting measures for beach sanitation, including reduced restroom hours, because of budget restrictions. The public had a vocally unfavorable response to the decision, particularly the restroom hours, and multiple complaints began pouring in.
Typically, L.A. County beach restrooms opened between 5 and 7 a.m., but on the new schedule, some would not be open until 11 a.m.
The following beach restrooms will go back to their early morning schedule:
Will Rogers at Temescal in Los Angeles; Zuma No. 6 and Point Dume in Malibu; El Porto and 26th Street in Manhattan Beach; Knob Hill in Redondo Beach; and White Point in San Pedro.
45 beach bathrooms will still be locked up until between 7 and 9 a.m., leaving some early risers inconvenienced. However, the severity of the budget crisis may force the County to stick to that schedule for now.
