Suspected Drunk Driver Jumps Curb, Plows Fence, And Crashes Into Plane At John Wayne Airport

56-year-old Luis Perez was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk after jumping a curb, crashing through a chain-link fence, and slamming into a plane at John Wayne Airport on Friday night, according to the Daily Pilot.

Orange County Sheriff's deputies said Perez "tore a 30- to 40-foot hole in the fence on the west side of the airport" and smashed into the small plane around 10:35 p.m. causing the aircraft to strike another plane. One of the crafts began leaking fuel.

That area of JWA consists of hangars for mostly small passenger planes with the larger commercial airliners mostly on the east side of the airport. The Orange County Fire Authority arrived and cleaned up the fuel[...]

The breach in the fence was be guarded by an Orange County Sheriff's deputy through the night. No passengers were reported in the car and no one was reported injured, said authorities.
