Zócalo presents the program Are Lies Ruining America? with author James B. Stewart, and moderated by Henry Weinstein, founding faculty member, UC Irvine School of Law. Stewart is author of the book Tangled Webs: How False Statements are Undermining America: From Martha Stewart to Bernie Madoff. He’ll discuss how perjury has become an epidemic in America and how the offense undermines the court system and reveals a larger breakdown of ethics in America. 7:30 pm at MOCA. Free, but parking at MOCA is $9 with validation. Reservations recommended.

ProjectFresh presents the panel discussion: Foreign Intervention and Moral Obligation tonight at 8 pm at The Downtown Independent Theater. If and when should the U.S. intervene in international political and social uprisings? And to what extent? Panelists include Edwin Smith, University of Southern California School of Law; Brian Doherty, senior editor at Reason magazine and Reason.com; Josh Lockman, University of Southern California School of Law; and Mohammed Abed, assistant professor of Philosophy, California State University, Los Angeles. Doors at 7 pm. General admission is $10 and student tickets are by donation. A food truck on the premises from 6:45 pm. Stay for rooftop drinks afterward.
