The fire is now 85% contained, and according to Fire Inspector Don Kunitomi, the active flames have been extinguished.
Over 100 firefighters worked yesterday evening and throughout the night battling the blaze. Three helicopters also assisted with water drops, notes the Daily Breeze.
It's unclear what started the fire that broke out yesterday afternoon near the Catalina Yacht Club, threatening buildings in the area. Firefighters were able to keep flames away from structures, though, and no one has been injured.
