Synagogue Bomb Suspect Brought Back To Los Angeles

A spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office says Ron Hirsch, the suspect in an explosion earlier this month at a Santa Monica synagogue, has been ordered held without bond after appearing in a Riverside court late Friday on "a federal charge of unauthorized flight," reports the Associated Press notes CBS Local.

The Los Angeles County district attorney's office is charging Hirsch with a total of four felony counts that also include "possession of a destructive device and explosion with intent to murder," reports the AP. The suspect was arrested last week when a rabbi in the Cleveland, Ohio area recognized the 60-year-old transient.

Notes the AP, an FBI affidavit links Hirsch to the explosion "by a mailing label on a box of demolition agent." An arraignment is scheduled for May 23 and, if convicted, Hirsch faces up to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
