Theft Charges Against Lindsay Lohan Reduced
For stealing a necklace from a Venice jewelry store, Lindsay Lohan will be charged with a misdemeanor rather than grand theft, a judge decided today.
KCBS reports that Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner told the courtroom that she was "giving [Lohan] an opportunity" by reducing the charges. The decision came after the judge heard reports from witnesses, as well as the case presented by prosecutors.
This represents the most recent turn in the somewhat bizarre case of the stolen necklace, which first had Lohan claiming that she had nothing to do with the theft, then the revelation that the necklace mysteriously made its way to a police station by a Lohan associate following the issuance of a search warrant for Lohan's house, then the store she allegedly ripped off using the case as a way to make some extra cash.
Hopefully, after this case fades away, the next time Lohan appears publicly as a scofflaw it will be part of something pretend.
