Not So 'Happy Days': Cast of Classic TV Show File Lawsuit

Five of the cast members of the classic television series "Happy Days" are reuniting, but not on the small screen. Anson Williams, Don Most, Marion Ross, Erin Moran and the estate of Tom Bosley are together as part of a $40 million breach-of-contract lawsuit filed today in Los Angeles alleging the performers are "owed money for merchandise sales related to the comedy series," reports the Daily Breeze.

Although the Garry Marshall-created series went off the air in 1984 after 10 seasons, merchandise inspired by and related to the show continued to be produced, and the actors in the suit say those comic books, T-shirts, lunch boxes, greeting cards, and even slot machines use their images without compensation.

The suit details agreements that stipulated the performers would receive "5 percent from the net proceeds of merchandising if a sole image was used and 2.5 percent if they were in a group, while the studio could deduct 50 percent off the top."

CBS, the network that aired the series, says they have "worked with the actors to try and resolve the dispute."

Ross, who played the matriarch on the hit show, told CNN that she lost her home to foreclosure last year, according to The Wrap.
