Hollywood Farmers' Market Permit Extended, Negotiations for Long-Term Solution Continue

The Hollywood Farmers' Market has been given a 30-day extension on their street closure permit and can continue to operate until mid-May as negotiations with the Los Angeles Film School continue. The school challenged the long-running market late last year based on a need to have improved access to their parking facility while the market is in operation on Sundays.

City Council President Eric Garcettii and market operator SEE-LA's Board President Michael Woo issued a joint statement last night:

"We believe that, after three months of discussion, we have made progress toward a long-term resolution of the issues that have been raised about the location of the Hollywood Farmers' Market. We are pleased that the Los Angeles Board of Public Works has agreed to extend the Hollywood Farmers’ Market street closure permit until May 17 to give us additional time to find the solution that best meets the market’s needs. We remain committed to keeping the Hollywood Farmers’ Market thriving in Hollywood with the market’s anchor at the Selma/Ivar intersection and without any new financial burden on the market."

Representatives from the disputing factions have been meeting twice a month in order to come up with an agreeable solution that has minimal impact on either business.
