Transient Stabbed to Death During Downtown Scuffle

crimescenetape2a.jpg A man in his forties thought to be a transient was fatally stabbed early this morning following a fight with two unidentified suspects in Downtown last night. The incident took place around 2 a.m. near the alcove of the Chase Bank building, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

A witness says two men who appeared to be African American, fled the scene carrying trash bags, while the victim was left to die on the sidewalk.

LAPD Central Area Detectives are not certain if the dispute was related to a robbery. The victim's only description is that he had a full beard; he had no identification on him. His body was found by a security guard from another building.

The authorities are hoping to use surveillance video from the bank's ATM lobby, as well as any information from the public, to help identify the two men who attacked the victim.

Says Lt. Paul Vernon: “I’m confident we will solve this. Someone on the street knows what happened, and time and again, we see persons come forward with tips that break tough cases like this one wide open.”
