To the Mattresses! Women Suing Glendale Hotel After Bedbug Incident

A three-night Glendale hotel stay in 2009 left an impression on three women--or rather, the hundreds of bedbugs that allegedly bit them sure did. Now those women have filed suit against the hotel, according to KTLA, and they are "are see[k]ing money for their medical bills and anguish."

Nicole Eatman, Vera Domini and Regina Martocci say that they became itchy after night one in the Rodeway Inn-Regalodge Motel, and when they eventually took a look at the underside of their mattresses, they found "blood-engorged bed bugs," as their lawsuit describes. The hotel manager denied their request for a refund.

The women say they were bit hundreds of times between them. Now their case is going to trial.

Bedbugs are a problem in the travel industry, as travelers carry the bugs unknowingly in their luggage or on their clothing from destination to destination. Another recent incident involved a woman who claimed she was given a bedbug-infested blanket aboard a British Airways flight from LAX to London. Though she is not suing, she demanded better customer service from the airline.

As of last fall, over 400 cases of bedbugs had been reported in Los Angeles.
