Tonight the Monday Evening Concerts at the Colburn School present something old and something new. The Monday Evening Concert Ensemble tackles the US premiere of Rolf Riehm’s Hawking, a piece for piano, bass drum and other instruments, and inspired by the physicist. The MEC Chorus takes on the baroque masterpiece by Heinrich Schütz: St. John Passion. 8 pm at Zipper Concert Hall at the Colburn School. Tickets: $27/$12 student

DIGITAL*
Netsquared presents the free program Digital Storytelling in L.A. County's Diverse Communities tonight at 6:30 pm at the Asian Pacific American Legal Center. Daniela Gerson, editor of The Alhambra Source, speaks on making the transition to online media and working with community members as an outsider to tell the community’s stories. The Source was launched as a USC Annenberg joint communication and journalism research initiative as a hybrid model of professional community journalism.

MUSIC
It’s a School Night features an evening of both live music and DJ sets at Bardot in Hollywood. On the bill are DJs Chris Douridas, Fred Durst, (yup, you read that correctly), Valida and Patrick Melcher. Live sets by Gary Clark, Julie Feeney and Bosco Delrey. Free with RSVP.

QUEER MONDAYS
Tonight and every last Monday of the month, the Queer Mondays series takes over Highways in Santa Monica to provide venue for the development of new queer works. Hosted by performance artist Ian MacKinnon, it’s a non-elitist performance series, so both members of the LGBT and friends are welcome. Performances tonight by: Catherine Burriss, Brian Frank, Joss Greene, Leopold, Brian DeShazor, Dale Guy Madison, Dave Stamford and Violent Vickie (from SF). Tickets: $5.
