Shooting Suspect Leads LAPD on Dangerous High-Speed Car Chase Back to Scene of Crime [UPDATED]

The suspect in a shooting in South Los Angeles led Los Angeles Police Department's Newton division officers on a wild, high-speed chase on the streets of East and South Los Angeles this afternoon, concluding with the driver's surrender and arrest.

Nearly mowing down pedestrians, blasting through intersections, weaving in and out of traffic through industrial and residential streets, the driver, who appeared to be on the phone as he drove the SUV, ultimately led the authorities right back to the scene of the crime, where he pulled over just past the fire trucks and other response vehicles parked where the shooting took place.

As seen on KTLA's live 1 p.m. news broadcast, as the suspect was being taken down by a barrage of officers, the victim in the shooting was being transported into an ambulance.

UPDATE: The victim, a female, died of her injuries at the hospital, according to LA Now.
