Jaycee Dugard's Kidnappers Confess
Phillip and Nancy Garrido of northern California confessed today to the 1991 kidnapping of Jaycee Lee Dugard, who was 11 at the time of her abduction.
The LA Times reports that the two admitted to snatching Dugard from the street and holding her captive for 18 years. Phillip is charged with raping Dugard on multiple occasions, and is known to be the father of her two children. She was discovered living in the couple's backyard in Antioch, CA in 2009.
Phillip's confession came with his hope, according to the Times, that his wife's sentence would be reduced. Even still, both are potentially looking at more than a lifetime behind bars:
Currently, Tapson said, authorities here have offered Nancy a plea agreement that would put her behind bars for nearly 242 years to life and Phillip 440 years to life.
