OC Film Student Builds Scenes from All 10 Best Picture Oscar-Nominated Films Out of Legos

22-year-old Chapman University grad student Alex Eylar loves movies and Legos, and saw a unique opportunity to bring those two worlds together. He has built models of scenes from each of the 10 films up for Best Picture Academy Awards this year, reports the OC Register.

Eylar, who predicts "The King's Speech" will take the big prize, says the hardest of the 10 for him to build was "Inception," for which he "created the rotating hallway and free-floating characters." Some characters, like Natalie Portman's tormented "Black Swan" ballerina, he made a hybrid using bits from different sets of Legos. But he'll only use actual Lego pieces--no imitations--to make his models.

His collection of about 30,000 Lego pieces fills his Orange apartment. Eylar doesn't leave his Lego models assembled, though; he will take them apart and re-use the pieces, and explains that the pieces can warp if they're left set up in a formation for too long.
