TV Junkie: Jimmy Fallon's Show Hits 400 Eps; New Channel Zero Podcast; The Roundup
"Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" celebrates its 400th episode tonight (12:35am on NBC)
We're watching "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" for a lot of good reasons tonight, journalist Martin Bashir is on and the incredible artist Laurie Anderson will perform. But tonight there will be a major milestone for the show: it's 400th episode. We know that "Snooki" is scheduled to be on, but we're hoping that it will, instead, be Abe Vigoda in drag celebrating his 90th birthday (today!).
Disproving what a lot of naysayers were naysaying, Jimmy Fallon and his crew have steadily improved the show from day one, create the best video segments of any late night show (and better than a lot of prime time shows), and have set a watermark for online engagement that hasn't been challenged by any other late show host until only recently. Congratulations to the team at Studio 6-B in Rockefeller Center who should be allowed to take note of tonight's achievement, a quick bow perhaps, before they resume outproducing the other late night squads.

We have a new edition of the Channel Zero podcast up: The very special Episode 11 is a recording of Jonathan Ames, the award-winning writer and showrunner/creator of HBO's "Bored To Death" discussing creativity and mental health at the Arts In Mind conversation series. Listen to the podcast HERE and/or subscribe via iTunes. It's over an hour of Ames discussing his creative process and how mental health and neurosis come into play.

More Oscar-y Stuff: ABC and the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences have extended their contract through 2020 (how lucky for Barbara Walters). On the one hand consistency is a good thing, on the other hand, consistency is boring, on the other other hand we won't have television anymore by 2020 (some people say), on the other other other hand the world is supposed end in 2012 (thank you Mayans).
The best things James Franco and Anne Hathaway could do for the Oscar broadcast this Sunday is to read the script that Ricky Gervais wrote for them and posted on his blog. It's hilarious and guaranteed to be better than anything that's will be put on their teleprompters.

Yesterday on G4's "Attack of the Show" renegade director (see video embed at the end of this post), avowed stoner, and now weight loss advocate, Kevin Smith, made a special announcement that he will be taking his network of podcasts to the live, daily SModcast Internet Radio, an independent entertainment production. Smith's successes are nothing to snark about and if there's someone that could pull this off and keep expanding it, it's him.
