TEDxTALK
TEDxManhattanBeach (an independently organized Ted event) comes to El Camino College tonight in Torrance from 6-9:30 pm. The topic? Vitality and living longer and better. There are “blue zones” worldwide that have the highest concentrations of people 100-year-old and older. But how, why and what’s the secret to creating more zones? Tickets: $18.

ONION
UCLA Live presents The Onion editors live on stage tonight at 8 pm at Royce Hall. Tickets: $28-38 ($15 UCLA students). Listen to Onion editor Joe Randazzo and his staff discuss how they develop the “fake news” as well as commentary on today’s media, pop culture and politics.

MUSIC + POETRY
The Hammer Museum welcomes Robert Pinsky, former U.S. poet laureate and jazz enthusiast, who’ll read poems while being accompanied by jazz great Bobby Bradford and his Mo’tet (Bradford on cornet and trumpet; Vinny Golia on winds; Roberto Miranda on bass; Chris Garcia on drums). 7 pm. Free. No reservations needed. Parking available under the museum after 6 pm for $3.

WORLD MUSIC
The “samurai percussionists” of Kodo bring their dynamic drumming and dance to Walt Disney Concert Hall tonight at 8 pm. The group brings a new program as part of their One Earth Tour. Tickets: $45-$103.

THEATER
Towne Street Theater puts on 12 short plays for its 4th Annual 10 Minute Play Festival. Works from playwrights throughout the country, the 2011 theme focuses on “The Black Experience.” On the bill are comedies, dramas, and experimental plays that explore race, relationships and the history of Blacks in America. At the Stella Adler Theatre. Runs tonight, Friday and Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 3 pm (through Feb. 20). Tickets: $10.

ART WALK
Despite its ups and downs, the Downtown LA Art Walk goes on tonight with free, self-guided, public art and gallery tours.
