112th Golden Dragon Parade: The Chinese New Year festival goes all day (10a-5p) with one of the highlights of the of the celebration, the Chinatown parade, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Main & Cesar Chavez, heading west on CC,, north on Broadway, west on Bernard and south on Hill St. The festival claims Broadway and College Street as its main site. Check the event website for street closures, parking details and Metro options. Parade is free from the street, grandstand tickets are available at the Chinese Chamber of Commerce booth for $35.
Garden Party: Feb 5 is CAMELLIAS day at Descanso Gardens! Early bloomers can take in a 9:30 a.m. Faery Tour of the Enchanted Forest (free with admission), 11:00 a.m. starts a special tea talk with Descanso camellia horticulturist Wayne Walker ($10-$20) and a guided tour (free with admission) begins at 1:00 p.m., Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive, La CaƱada Flintridge, $3-$8
Grammy Says Knock You Out: Opening today is new major special exhibit at the GRAMMY Museum, Hip-Hop: A Cultural Odyssey (based on the ARIA Multimedia Entertainment large-format book with the name). One of the first major museum exhibitions to explore the four-decade history of Hip-Hop in America, the showcase features interactive history, mixing and listening stations, video footage, rare images and original artifacts, like: handwritten Tupac lyrics, LL Cool J TROOP suit and Kangol hat, Run DMC lWalk This Way leather wear, Grandmaster Flash turntables, MORE. Museum is located on L.A. LIVE. campus at the corner of Olympic Boulevard and Figueroa Street. Enter on Fig., 10:00am - 7:30pm, $12.50
