SONG
The 25-member Silver Lake Chorus celebrates its one-year anniversary tonight at 7 pm at the Echo Park United Methodist Church. The chorus—who performs choral arrangements of indie tunes—will be performing original material written for them by Beck, Sia, Of Montreal, Aimee Mann, The Bird and the Bee, Tegan and Sara, Zooey Deschanel, and Justin Vernon (Bon Iver). John Gold opens with an acoustic set.

ART
Tonight Gallery1988 (Melrose) opens The Great Showdowns solo show from NY artist Scott Campbell. The exhibition holds more than 200 of his signature Showdown paintings, which pin two of pop culture's most intense rivals against each other. The opening reception is tonight from 7-10 pm.

FIRST FRIDAY - VENICE
Art gallery openings, food trucks, restaurant and bar specials , music and lots of people watching at First Friday on Abbot Kinney tonight from 5:30 pm-12:30 am. Three examples: The Brig has $5 Absolut original or flavored cocktails (while supplies last, extra for martinis), Topo Ranch features cold beer and the acoustic music of John Hanft and Samantha Yonack from 7:30 - 9:30 pm; and a special menu and DJ at Joe's (one of our favorites).

LATE NIGHT THEATER
Crack Whore Galore is the Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA’s late-night offering. With live music and raw comedy, it’s a reality show sendup that follows UK couple Danny and Abbey Galore who leave rehab to formed the rock band Crack Whore Galore. The play explores the “ever popular cocktail of narcissism and desperation that runs rampant in today’s celebrity-driven culture.” Tonight at 10:30 pm. Through March 12 at the Atwater Village Theatre.

THEATER
Firehouse, a new play by Pedro Antonio Garcia, opens tonight at Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks. Based on a true story, a rookie firefighter is caught between a rock and a hard place when he chooses to save a fellow fireman instead of a 12-year-old girl who dies in a building fire as a result. “The community is outraged and comes to a boiling point in this intense drama where race, the code of honor, and love all play a part.” 8 pm. Advanced tickets: $22/$25 at the door. Senior/students: $20.
