CHINESE NEW YEAR
Chi Dynasty in Studio City celebrates the Year of the Rabbit tonight by transforming its parking into a Chinese New Year festival. 6:30-8:30pm. Expect the traditional lion dance, red paper lanterns and Chinese drummers. Open to the public, guests will get free passed appetizers and drinks by Tsingtao Beer. You'll also get a red envelope with $8 in Chi Bucks to be used on another visit. If you're really hungry, the restaurant will be open during the festival.

ART
As part of their Engagement Party residency at MOCA, the League of Imaginary Scientists present The Evolving Contraption featuring The Automatoggler tonight at 7 pm. Here's how the museum describes the project: "Literally a morphing art apparatus and stage for interactive adventures, the League's contraption will be filled with levers, buttons, and switches in February, when the contraption will become 'The Automatoggler.' Grab on to help save humanity and, incidentally, make toast." At the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Free. (And if it's too crowded, definitely take the time to check out the wonderful permanent collection.)

Old Town Newhall in the Santa Clarita Valley is starting up its own Food Fest at the Art Walk on the first Thursdays of the month beginning this afternoon.
