Tongue And Groove + Slake: Los Angeles = Reading At Hotel Cafe

Tongue and Groove, the monthly reading and music series, teams up with the newish quarterly print magazine Slake: LA, for an evening of essay, fiction and poetry tonight at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood this evening.

Readers tonight are contributors to the upcoming second issue of Slake—founded last year by former LA Weekly editors Laurie Ochoa and Joe Donnelly as a paean to the printed page and long-form writing.

Borrowing the magazine's title "Crossing Over," readers and stories tonight include: John Albert, on going back in time with Van Halen; Joseph Mattson, on recovering a lost night in a Chinatown opium den; and Rachel Resnick, on family, suicide and butchery. Other scheduled readers are Donnelly, Victoria Patterson and Dana Johnson with musical guest Dorian Wood.
